Hi there! I just reached Balawoli at the compound where we are staying.
The drive here was outrageous! But, nonetheless, we made it.
I did get some rest last night in Kampala - we stayed the night at a hotel and I slept hard and long. I desperately needed it as I was exhausted from the travel. I also got a shower but it was a bathroom/shower in one where you have a spicket and a toilet and can do it both at the same time. However, I got to wash all the precious parts and feel somewhat clean! ;)
The compound here is amazing and quite comfortable and quiet. Very small, but effective.
There is passion fruit overhanging the courtyard that provides both shade and food. There is a small library, computer room, 3 guest rooms and 3 other resident rooms of the people who live here at the compound.
The bathrooms are pit latrines...not too pleasant but effective. The shower is an open cement floor with 3 walls and hanging water bags for you to wet down and lather up. My room is nice - simple but nice. It has a double bed, mosquito net and a chamber pot (so I don't have to walk to the latrine in the middle of the night).
